Canada, Eh? (Part 2)

Ironman 70.3 Calgary: The RACE
Race morning, before the start.

Local Missoula pro triathlete Linsey Corbin flies past us on her Scott Plasma. Hey - That's MY bike!

The swim start for Alex's wave.

It's Alex!

Coming out of the water, headed for T1. He was doing very well: 5th out of the water in his age group.

Onto the bike course.

Finishing the bike. Man, he's fast!

Out for a nice, easy 13.1 mile run, right?

The 17k mark, 4k to go. (That's 10.5 miles down, 2.5 to go, for those of you that don't speak metric.)

100 meters from the finish. He's hurting, but pushing through.

Gratuitous awards ceremony picture of the overall pro winners, Mirinda Carfrae and Tim O'Donnell. First prize was a hockey jersey (and, one hopes, a rather large check).

Team Stampede! (Apparently, having survived a summer here in Missoula, Alex and I qualify as unofficial Team Stampeders. The cowboy hat is apparently the official uniform.)

ALEX IS GOING TO IRONMAN 70.3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CLEARWATER, FLORIDA!
His goal for the summer was to earn a qualifying spot, and in Calgary he did. This is him signing the paperwork and handing over the check to make it official. Congratulations, Alex.
