I finished! That was a tough day on a tough race course. My finishing time was 5:47, which is a little slower than my initial estimates, but I'm not complaining at all. I had a solid swim and a great bike (I averaged 20mph over the bike course, which is not a fast course!), but I had some nutritional issues which left me with bad stomach cramps for most of the run made it hard to breathe, slowing me down somewhat. All in all it was a good day. I gave it everything I had, left it all out on the race course, and I'm happy with the result. I couldn't ask for anything more. All of this crazy training this summer was definitely a success.
Thank you Mom, Dad, Alex, and Michelle for coming out here to support me (and take probably thousands of pictures--I haven't even looked at the cameras yet). Thanks also to everyone who sent me their support and best wishes.
I'll put up pictures of the race, plus from this past week in Seattle, in a day or two. Right now, I think I'm just going to find some food and go back to sleep.
Well we all just want to be big rock stars...
